It’s been a while again. What can I say? Life gets in the way sometimes. I have been trying and the weight is slowly coming off. I’m not as consistent as I’d like to be; I need to get myself to a point where my way of life is healthy with the occasional treat, rather than this 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off nonsense I keep getting tied up in.
Anyway, I’m back on track for the moment and on a whim I signed up to a local Couch 2 5k plan, for the bargain price of £9 for 9 weeks. It’s run by Sandwell Leisure Trust, and follows the One You C25k programme. The app is free and is available on Apple and Google Stores. I went to my first group run on Sunday; it is being run at my local cricket ground and it was PACKED!
I believe there were about 250 people there, it was open to families and there were quite a few groups. I was by far the slowest, but I stopped caring about that quite quickly and just focussed on keeping going. The first session was the hardest thing I’ve done for a long time. Massive thanks to the workers and volunteers cheering me on, they helped me keep going. Session 2 was easier, I actually managed a couple of full 60 second runs, and session 3 was even better as I learnt to pace myself a little better.
They said at the group that anyone who gets to week 5 will finish the course. I will make it to week 5! But for now, here’s to week 2.
